Madison homeless

There are a few free meals but shelters are often at capacity and there's is a serious lack of shelter space for women and children. There's also often shortages in getting basic clothing and hygiene supplies. The state of the shelters is also quite disgusting - backed up sewage in the showers, bed bugs and lice, etc. So yes, I think you're very misinformed.

Many of the people who you see on the street, and who you're basing your opinion on, are kind of the worst of the worst. They can't or won't get help from different agencies because they have a combination of mental illness and substance abuse problems, which is exacerbated by being on the streets. Though if they wanted to get help, it's not a guarantee that help will be available. Many agencies just can't handle dealing with them, understandably so. A lot of agencies are judged by how successful they are, so if they want to keep being funded, they're going to pick the easy cases.

I'm not defending what you're calling "entitled" behavior because a lot of what you're describing really irritates me too but I think you have a skewed view.
