Major prison strike spreads across US and Canada as inmates refuse food

But what about the societal cost of denying people a chance to be a better person? Even stabbing a 13 yo, as awful as it is, doesn't mean you have nothing to contribute or don't have it in you to better yourself and turn your life around. If you truly believe what you say, why not advocate for automatic death penalty for all violent crime? More humane. What's the point of just keeping these people around, inactive and leeching on society, forever? I want them to pay me and society back by using prison time to go to college, so when they get out, they can be taxed on future earnings so maybe we can even out what we spent. The 13 yo is dead forever anyway. No one is better off with the system that's in place, and your displaced sense of justice in people suffering is bringing no one back. It simply adds another life to this heap of fucking tragedy.
