Makes sense

Well so let's maybe try to agree on some objective qualities of a video game.

  1. Originality - both for gameplay and art.
  2. Story.
  3. "Gameplay loop."
  4. UI.
  5. Monetization & price.

Fifa today is the same game every year, so it's literally the most unoriginal IP in all of gaming now. Even the art is recycled over and over.

Sports games have no story, so NBD here. Can't penalize a game for not having a feature it doesn't need.

All games have to have a fun core "gameplay loop." That is, the main actions you perform in the game have to be fun, even when performed over and over and over. I'll give FIFA fans the benefit of the doubt here - who am I to say that the gameplay isn't fun to them?

The UI on literally every single EA game is absolute trash. They make R* look competent by comparison, and that's saying something. Add on top of that one of the bottom 1-2 mandatory launchers in the industry (Origin), and you don't have a good user experience in the making.

Ahhh the final point - monetization. I don't think we even need to talk about this do we?
