The Inspiration
Thailand’s booming leather industry is the world’s second largest exporter of leather products. The bad news though is that an average leather factory routinely ends up with 60-80 kg of wasted leather scraps every single month. That an equivalent of about 10 cows! The industry also uses harmful chemicals to treat the leather, which in turn is polluting the atmosphere and water. In fact, livestock alone is responsible for approximately 10% of the world’s greenhouse gases. That’s actually more than the entire transportation sector! Cows themselves produce large amounts of methane (70-120kg per year per cow!) that is 23 times more harmful to the ozone layer than carbon dioxide.
We looked at these statistics and decided that we need to do our own small part to not only utilize the wasted leather, but also raise awareness regarding the underlying side-effects of the leather-making process. We’ve decided to introduce the iFold.
The Product
This case is meant to make the best use of left over scrap leather. All of our cases will be made from wasted leather from the Thai furniture industry.
The case is sleek, sophisticated and durable. But most importantly, you’ll would be raising awareness of the problems associated with the leather industry and doing your part for the environment.
No two iFold cases will be alike! Every case is unique as the leather we use will often have discolorations or small defects (nothing that would affect the performance of the case though so no need to worry). We think this adds personality and a…boutique-ness…if you may…to the case! At the moment, our cases are designed to fit the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 + but we hope to extend our designs to include other phones in the near future!
Concept Design
Our product got its name from its unique design which uses only one piece of leather that can fold in on itself and turn into a case.
We also wanted our design to be simple in order to best streamline the production process and the supply chain. Using a one-stamp process, the case can easily be made by just one worker!
Functions & Features
Leather is an extremely durable material that will protect both your phone and your phone screen. The extended strap serves as an easy way for you to take it out of your pocket.
What You Are Supporting
Your donations will help us promote our product and what it stands for. A portion of all the proceeds will be donated to sustainable research and Eco-friendly projects. We’ll be able to afford larger distribution capacity and offer more designs for other phones.

Risks and challenges
With any product there is always the risk of delays and unforeseen circumstances within the supply chain whether that is caused by weather or defects. We hope to address this through simplified design and distribution processes. The less cogs in the wheel, the fewer things can go wrong.
The challenges we have will be in establishing distribution, and generating interest and support for our product.
