Man accidentally shoots self in leg while visiting corn pit attraction in Brooklyn Park | The discharge of his handgun "does not affect his permit to carry," said police Inspector Elliot Faust.

I took my carry permit class in ~2014 and this was basically my identical experience. The "class" portion was a Powerpoint of like a dozen slides with a quiz at the end that listed the answers since the test requires 100% accuracy to count as passing. The live-fire exercise was me going to a shooting range with the instructor for literally five minutes and shooting at a target. After that I dropped off the papers the instructor signed to my county sheriff's station and got a permit in the mail about two weeks later.

I took the class with sincere intent to learn and came out of it learning next to nothing, but with a legal license to carry a weapon and a deeper appreciation for why we need more strict gun control. I learned more about firearm safety from YouTube than I did from taking a firearm safety class.
