You put forward an opinion that criminals should be punished like for like and I argued that criminals should be punished but also rehabilitated. Your method results in murders receiving the death penalty whilst my method has them reconditioned to rejoin society.

Neither of these options refer to anyone’s rights. Only punishment and rehabilitation. Killing a murderer does not restore the rights of the victim or those of their family, it only strips the murderer of their rights.
