If they were white washing, they would’ve never produced princess and the frog. The person who adapted it made it marketable to a large American audience by setting it in New Orleans. The story is German, but they changed it to make it appealing to the masses.
If you don’t like it, write a movie that appeals to you. But don’t whinge that people aren’t writing movies about your culture, when you’re only going off movies in English. As I said, there are thriving movie industries all over the world in dozens of languages.
You want Nigerian? Korean? Hindi? Chinese? Swahili? They, and many many more, exist.
If you want movies produced in English speaking countries, they’re most likely going to be about white people.
