man i definitely dont miss late night launches

My Gamestop's midnight launches are shitshows now. I go in around 6pm after work, just to ask the details. Only 1 of 3 registers working and it's in the middle of a trade, waiting for some guy to find a ps3 cord in his car, and then complaining about the pink controller included with his used system. I finally get to ask someone, and they instantly blurt out starts at 11. Then another employee leaving for the day says come at 9. So I confirm "you are finalizing receipts and handing out group numbers at 9." I didn't care too much about group number, it usually goes pretty fast at midnight since all they usually do is look at receipts and hand out copies. Well I had a party to go to and couldn't make it back to 10:30. I walk in and they are already lining up (40+) and they are not closing out receipts anymore. Telling people to just get to the back of the line. I was like so "I'm going to pay/close my receipt after midnight?". I wasn't going to stand in the back of a line that people with group numbers from 9 can squeeze in front as it approaches midnight. Why they didn't continue closing out tickets until 11 or 11:30 confuses me. People were just going to stand in line in the store for an hour and a half while the clerks behind the counter just stared at them? I just went home. I'll pick it up today at lunch.

I know that customers can be moronic and annoying, I saw plenty of people holding last minute trade-ins, screw those guys. But it can't be that hard to organize a midnight launch, and it should not be different every launch you go to at the same location. They used to send out emails or app notifications if you pre-order with details, or even some simple instruction flyers the week leading up to a big launch. Even if an employee isn't working the launch they should know some basic details of it.

I miss the MW3 launch.
