A man dies of an overdose. Then chaos ensues at his swank Seattle apartment building

It's honestly really crazy that after all this drama, she just wanted a modest sum of money and a moving van.

Reminds me of a story I read about a nonprofit finding a homeless man and asking about his story. The man said he was on travel, shit went sideways, and he lacked the fare to get back home (Seattle to Indianapolis). So this organization took it upon themselves to get him some basic necessities and paid for his trip back. Sometimes, not all the time, that's all it takes.

I feel like there can be a middle ground between forcing people out of camps and homelessness, and throwing out endless resources without actually seeing what it is these people need.
