Man, do I hate Ted Cruz

You asked if I think it's fair from business owners to experience loss for their beliefs. I say No... as long as their beliefs aren't at the cost of civil rights.

The thought experiment does happen. It happened to blacks, especially after Jim Crow laws allowed it to happen. This is similar to that except described as Religious Freedom, as if that's not already granted to everyone in the First Amendment.

Religion isn't under attack?

No. Discrimination is. It just so happens that people use religion to discriminate.

Are we seeing people take that initiative or are we seeing them use the courts and the media to attack people who disagree with them?

We see people urging the courts to come to the aid of those who aren't protected by the law, for something they are. Other businesses such as Apple, Salesforce etc. are using media for multiple reasons. They don't want to be sued, and they don't want anything to do with discrimination.

why shouldn't the tie go to the person who's taking the initiative to provide the service? Aren't they the one who would have to put the effort into the situation?

The entrepreneurs are the ones putting forth effort to gain assets. Money, employees. The people are putting forth effort to make sure they play fairly. The business owners use 'morals' to refuse service to someone because their beliefs tell them that someone, they don't even know, is sinful. Not because the potential customer is rude, or destructive, or even overstepping their bounds, but because they are who they are. Is that moral, to you? If so why not refuse service to all blacks. After all, I provided links were the Bible was used to justify slavery. In the past (before, during and after the Civil War) the Bible was used to segregate black people. Why not stop that now? Because they're a protected class, right? Can't refuse because of race or creed. Why aren't they making a fuss about their beliefs being trampled on now? Shouldn't the tie go to them? No. It simply shouldn't.

I answered your questions. It's absolutely fine if you disagree. They're my opinions.
