A man once said if you want a good story just ask any random person if there was ever an event in their life they can not explain. Someone almost always has one weird thing that has happened to them. So reddit, regardless of whatever you believe about the world, what’s your story?

Probably too late but here’s mine: My family is catholic and mother owned a huge figure of Virgin Mary, which she found at a yard sale. When she got it it was splattered with paint and in bad shape and she restored it herself. When I was born she put a picture of me into the statue’s folded hands. She always used to tell me that it fell down and shortly after I got cancer as a child, so she understood it as a warning and did not only put it back but glued it in place afterwards.

In my whole life I’ve never seen the figure without the picture, not even when we moved. Until one day I came home from school alone and it was on the floor. I put it back without mentioning it to anyone. Nobody knew I was contemplating suicide for a while already. I don’t want to get into too much detail, but it obviously didn’t work and a few years later my mother told me she knew she had to keep an eye on me during that time because she found the picture on the floor one day but also didn’t tell anyone.

I’m not religious in the slightest but to this day I can’t understand how a picture that didn’t fall down in so many years could fall down twice in a row and then never again.
