Man who inspired ALS Ice Bucket Challenge succumbs to the disease at age 46

All it raised was awareness that there was a disease called ALS.

Now go ask just about every person who bought into that fad to tell you anything at all about ALS.

Ask them how much they've thought about ALS since then.

Then ask them if they remember who they nominated.

You're going to get an affirmative answer to one of those questions, and you're going to get a really disappointing answer to all 3 of them.

"Raising Awareness" is nothing more than peddling a license for passive slacktivism.

It lets people think they've done something, when they're actually done nothing at all. That gives them the satisfaction of having done something, which satiates any desire they might have had to ACTUALLY do something.
