I know this is going to come across as arrogant and cocky, but I don't mean it to.
But in the public settings (not like a school), aren't you supposed to protect others when they can't protect/defend themselves?
I am epileptic, and society has always done the right thing and called an ambulance if I had one of my seizures in public, and would stay there on the ground next to me reassuring me I was alright. They were complete strangers, unless I was at work.
If I were put in the situation to defend others I would. If it requires me to pay the ultimate price for their safety, it would be done without hesitation. Not trying to act like I'm a hero or anything, but the innocent are always worth protecting. Especially because it may be you one day ;)
