Man wins $390,000 in gender discrimination case because a woman got the promotion he was more qualified for - What do you think about this? Do you support it or no?

I'm about to leave a job or request transfer in the US because all the people above me (my bosses) all lack proper leadership abilities and it has lead to a hostile work environment. Every boss all the way up is female. They may have been the most qualified, I'm not sure, what it feels like is that they merely stuck around in a high turnover job field. The people I work with are regularly vehemently chewed out in front of clients for small mistakes and it makes everyone but mostly the clients, extremely uncomfortable. I'm meeting with HR today and I'm honestly upset because I'm not sure I should go to them because I'm young and need good recommendations for future employment. I'm very conflicted about how to handle the situation.
