Manager left dishes with maggots

Not petty at all, it’s for the good of the worker and patrons.

I had one shitbag employer that said they weren’t gonna pay me for my training, and i said if i don’t get paid i’m quitting and reporting them, not only that but literally 2/20 workers had papers so it woulda been disastrous, i got my paycheck and walked out the door after being scheduled for the whole week.

Another guy didn’t pay me after 10hrs of work unloading trucks in 100 degree weather and i quit, couldn’t report them cause my friend who got me in was up for promotion so i had to bite my tongue, he ended up getting the promotion.

When i was dishwashing i broke my back for my chef and recruited 8 people when we had NOBODY, 3 dishwashers having to cover 22 shifts a week. I constantly filled, came to work early, etc. and eventually i got fed up from problems not being fixed that i was vocal about and my chef refusing to train me, when i offered to train for free. Apparently i wasn’t good enough to cook because i worked at a bar as my primary job cooking.

Eventually i started job hunting and did 20 interviews, got 6 offers to be a line cook from people i never met, i got rejected so much but kept going and was making way more money than dishwashing. I was asked to come back and offered to train as a cook...what was my reply ? “No thanks”.

So i guess i was good enough for other executive chefs huh ? And apparently i was good enough for them but they were determined to push me away until it was too late.

TL;DR: point is there are people willing to give you chances you just gotta keep trying. Sorry for the rant, don’t got an axe to grind with any of the people i mentioned but just saying i get that it’s hard, just keep ur head up
