Manager micro-managing

It is SO delightful that you mention this! I literally was just googling it today because that same thought crossed my mind. My relationship with this particular manager was always a little awkward as I’ve suspected her leadership methods were poor after she quickly fell under the influence of one of her toxic employees and unnecessarily involved a couple of people along into the drama that this one employee clearly intended to stir up. But when I started working closer to her I realized she quickly started to feel undermined by me and totally started nit picking at everything that I did without ever being able to actually articulate what exactly she wanted from me. Ultimately she began to passive aggressively gaslight me to the point that my colleagues suggested I avoid copying her to emails so that she wouldn’t get distracted from her admittedly very demanding work. Colleagues claim this is due to stress however I believe a successful leader’s primary quality should be to be able to keep it together under pressure and be sure to have what it takes to support her employees through clarity of communication and regular check-in rather than to crumble under the pressure, find themselves amenable to admit that, and instead run her team to the ground
