The Mandalorian - S03E02 - Chapter 18 - Discussion Thread!

Please don't explain things to me that I already know if that misses the point anyway. I'm just tired of looking for explanations based on interpretations. Writing a series works with emotional / dramaturgical build ups and structures. If they change direction for a good reason, that's fine. But Star Wars keeps changing things to make everything stupid, and it's frustrating.

Mando was very clear in season 1:

"I need a droid I can trust to help me explore Mandalore, and he's that droid."

"This one is my friend."

"Keep IG-11 safe until I get back with that part."

So we were looking forward to him finding a way to do that. And they just could have written it that way. And Star Wars is always like that.

Oh, Luke was afraid because of the things he overcame in ROTJ already.

Oh, Boba Fett wanted to be a gangsterboss but suddenly became soft because of things he overcame before he met Mando already.

Oh, Mando suddenly didn't care anymore because he somehow figured out, he can trust another one, if the situation needs it.

Oh, this and that character somehow survived because of reasons.

We will always find explanations for that if we trying hard enough because the writers give us enough puzzle pieces to put it together in our head. But it sucks already that we always have to do that instead of just enjoying a good story like with other series. It can't be that hard to just write consistent characters.
