Manhattan Project: Energy Empire vs Viticulture

My favourite game (therefore worker placement) is Trickerion. It uses simultaneous blind worker placement mechanic: everyone assigns their workers to a location with face down cards and then they're all revealed simultaneously so you can see exactly where everyone is going to be heading. But then you take turns actually sending a worker so you have to factor in which stuff you really need to be able to do this round as getting late to a location means you may not be able to take full advantage of it.

Add in the highly thematic turn-of-the-century magician art and background and the mad dash to perform your tricks in the last rounds of the game and it's quite a fantastic game.

However it's quite a long and complicated game. The base (simplified) rules are also a bit meh. The game really shines when you play with the included Dark Alley expansion and becomes ever so slightly crazy with the extra cards from the Dhalgard's Gifts expansion.
