At many churches, pandemic hits collection plates, budgets

When I was a kid, we used to go to a Lutheran church every Sunday and I went to the next door Lutheran elementary school. My dad got into an accident due to alcohol, my mom basically became a single mother (soon to divorce) running the family business, and then had to work on Sundays. She could barely afford my education, so she told the school our situation and asked the school principal to not take away the church attendance discount. But they refused. After all those years of attending church, tithing, and I was taking confirmation classes at my school - they couldn't give my mother a little mercy during her hardship. She got pissed, so we never went to church again lol (but I was pretty happy about it though, I hated it lol)
