I disagree with the notion that "average Joe" has nothing to write about. We as humans go though the same emotions, lot of people have been supressed to believe and express themselves creatively.

Also, our society is deeply dysfunctional as a whole, build on bullshit patriarchal views and lot of unhealthy values. Most artists are generally more sensitive and lot of them can subconsciously feel this unease. There is also lot of generational trauma being passed by and this really goes for all of us, unless we take responsibility for ourselves and face our inner darkness, we will keep trying to fill it with unhealthy coping skills like drugs, workaholism, people-pleasing etc.
