Why do many web developers hate jQuery?

People probably hate jQuery if they don’t know anything other than working on some framework which does all the UI job.

In JS community, there is always library of the year. Personally I think only few libraries got famous & hype by solving the right problems for the developers and they truly deserve hype. jQuery was one of them. But it may not be needed now as most of the methods are available in JS itself.

I don’t doubt to believe, jQuery influenced part of JS standards today.

There are some people turning away from es6 classes now with no real clue why they have to. Same here. So people hate jQuery if they really don’t know what value it served But there is nothing wrong in thinking I don’t need it.

Prototype JS is another one in this category.
