Map of "The Western World"?

I guess it's a contextual thing. "The West" by itself is an empty concept, but the term has been used as a shorthand to refer to several things which are much more easily defined - but which, also invariably, do not "feel" like they're accurately described by the term "West".

If The West = the Cold War-Era "Western Bloc" and what survives of it today, then you're going to look at the web of alliances surrounding the US and so you'll include the EU, but also Japan, Turkey, Israel and some others like the Saudis. So it's hardly "the West" anymore, and moreover strictly neutral countries, even European ones, are excluded of it.

If The West = the European-influenced world (in a cultural and/or religious sense), then you'll include Russia, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus. the Americas, etc. But then you'll have to take into account the fact that Christian African countries exist, and that China's political system is inspired by a German dude who never set foot in Asia and by political experiments that took place in Russia.

A lot of ways to describe "the West" exist or have existed (the "democratic countries", or the "industrialized countries", or "the Christian countries", etc.) so you can't possibly put every country that has been described as belonging to the "West" in one group and expect it to remain coherent without narrowing your focus.
