I've read that Kubo's stats aren't very good several times but he's already one of the best dribblers in La Liga, has the second most goal creating actions after Messi and has the same number of goals and assists in the league as Isco, Rodrygo and Vinicius combined, despite having played close to a thousand less minutes for a much worse team.

So if they're not good, who is he being compared to? It's difficult to know what the expectation should have been really - you could compare him to players like Isco, Asensio and David Silva, but none were playing in La Liga at the same age. Bernardo Silva who I've compared Kubo to before didn't start playing regularly until he was almost two years older than Kubo was at the start of this season.
