This, from a US shop owner is why UK prices are so much cheaper

British companies have immense cost advantages over American retail stores.

Operating from a warehouse or cheap neighborhood shop. Favorable currency exchange rates. Little or no freight costs for nearby brands. Drive over to pick up merchandise at a factory. If not near a factory, freight from factory to shop is still very cheap in England. Same or one day delivery to most of the country via train or cheap courier services. England is smaller than Texas. Minimal inventory, the factory is their warehouse. Cheap rent (in some cases gov. subsidized), Open Account payment terms with the factories. No delays in getting merchandise. Little or no Property Taxes, because the factory holds inventory, not their shops.
No Customs processing fees, and to top it all off: Income Taxes tax breaks, up to 50%. Yes, UK exporters can operate & sell much cheaper, as long as they sell large volume and get tax breaks. And they aren’t getting rich either.

Thoughts? I know there's some UK guys on here
