He writes extensively in his music and book about his own personal experiences with catholicism, which stem largely from his time at a catholic school where he felt picked on, alienated, and talked down to. You feel like he picks on religion, he feels like religion picked on him first.

Actually, religion is still a pretty consistent theme in his music. It's just not as predominant as it was throughout the triptych, he's more interested in exploring personal relationships now. Guns, government, sex, drugs, etc. All topics which he's said more or less everything he has to say already, so now he's exploring new territory. Shame on him for evolving rather than repeating himself, right?

He has received innumerable death threats, including bomb threats during his concerts, which includes one in Russia just last year where the concert had to be cancelled. He's been thrown in prison numerous times too, which includes an arrest in Rome for dressing similarly to the pope. That doesn't even begin to account for all the whack jobs who sat outside his concerts antagonizing the kids there to see his shows, or the way he was raked through the mud multiple times for senseless tragedies that had absolutely nothing to do with him, or his music. Yep, he's sure had it easy.
Like a lot of artists who have a bone to pick with religion, someone, at some point in their lives, crossed a line in trying to shove religious garbage down their throats and it pissed them off to the point where they felt obligated to fight back with their own words. You make it seem as though he picks on christians because it was a quick and easy way to get famous, which is completely dismissive and absurd. He's writing from a personal place about things that affect and have affected him in the past.
Also, I don't see anything positive he ever spread while he was popular. Just misery and depression and anger and sexual confusion and violent gory thoughts
To make that call you would have to be familiar with his music, which I seriously doubt you are. So why're you regurgitating nonsense? Short of accusations of satanism and ritual animal sacrifice your comment is a carbon copy of the typical 'I have legitimate reasons for disliking him and his music' and then proceed to rattle off a list of half-truths, whole lies, and prejudice bullshit.
