Mark Streit's greatest moment as a Montreal Canadien

Bergevin humiliated markov with the Streit signing.

I don't even really know what to say exactly. Streit is a fringe roster player playing for near league minimum and likely retiring after this season and is getting a break from the team that drafted him. Markov wants a $250k/year raise on a 2 year deal at 38 coming off his second worst point total season (not counting lockout or those two years he only played like 25 games) in more than a decade. Maybe, just maybe, Markov shouldn't be asking for so much money? And how the two relate as an insult is just mind boggling.

So many stupid posters believe Shea Weber is too old but he's the same age as Ovi.

That's not the issue most people have with Weber, the issue is that he is debate-ably not as good a player who's signed for nearly $8M until he's fucking 40 years old. Subban generates more team goals, more primary assists, and more team shot generation while having equal TOI and shot suppression. Weber also plays a very physical game which is not going to get better as he ages. One of the big reasons a guy like Lidstrom played so well for so long is that he avoided physicality.

If we traded Subban for Ovechkin would people say we lost the trade because age difference? Nah.

In what world does this even happen?

Weber is way better than Subban (2 playoffs goals 9M$).

...which is twice as many as Weber had?

Weber is the defense captain now and all moves we make is aligned with our new defensive strategy : no more retarded plays by low IQ pmd.

Our defensive strategy, and our team core by extension has always been Price. Weber is great playing in our own end, but as we've seen the teams biggest issue is scoring goals, not keeping them out. For D-men offense begins with zone exits, something Weber has struggled with his whole career. Subban on the other hand is fantastic at breaking out of the defensive zone, one of the best in the league actually.

Bustlieu, sergachev Markov Subban, it's ~7 goals per season each at a high price. Nope. Enough with overrated dmen in front of Price.

I have no idea where this logic comes from. Beaulieu is making $1M, Sergachev is a rookie who's played 4 games in the NHL, and Subban averages 10-15 goals a year, which for everyone other than Brent Burns is pretty good. Markov is literally the only person in that group who scores ~7 goals and is a high cost asset.

"Habs have no future on defense"... If you believe that, YOU have no future as a hockey analyst. We have like 8 new dmen and people are worried about losing sergachev. We can find mature dmen so easily it's laughable.

Yeah OK, we can pick up bottom pairing D of course they are easy to get but are any of them any good? One of the D-men we picked up last year was Nesterov, and he was awful. Our Top 4 next year are Weber, Petry, Benn, and Alzner. Not bad, not great.

People are pissed about the Sergachev trade because he was a highly regarded prospect that filled a looming loss, Markov, perfectly.
