Marriage counselors, what are the most common mistakes couples make?

Fundamental difference most men don’t get and it makes them poor listeners.

They unwittingly invalidate the feeling by trying to leap over it or cutting the person off with a man-splain of how it can be fixed. One which usually isn’t even so super original that the person venting couldn’t have thought of it themself.

They don’t understand what the person is coming to them for- comfort and support. Often if the person is reasonably smart and has had this issue to mull over a while your “solution” isn’t going to be mind blowing and life changing anyway. You’re not going to walk right up and find the answer when they’ve had tons of time to think of this already.
