Marth88 and his plea to the Devs...

Okay big arse bible coming from a 2016 OG ALPHA player:

I bought dead by daylight the second it came out on steam and have been playing it on and off ever since. it's always been apparent that the balance issues were way out of hand.

Let it be known that the devs HAVE actually done some good balance changes! There used to be infinites survivors would abuse, there wasn't any bloodlust for killers to catch up to survivors, trapper used to be outright broken and killers could mori instantly, but recently they haven't done anything good to the game.

Which killer can actually win?

The only killer that can BARELY have any pressure against 4 good survivors is a no-ed, insta-saw, decisive countering (agitation,iron grasp) hillbilly that camps with a mori. This is the killer that was able to beat marth88's crew. If that is the only killer build that works then that is a cause for concern.

What's the core problem?

The main problem of the game is that survivors can just spread out, do one generator each and by the time the killer gets one survivor hooked, there will be maybe 1 generator left... at best. Gen rushing IS the main problem and has been since the release. And Marth88 is right when he says people don't play like this because it's not fun and we'd prefer to bully the killer for extra points instead of just doing the gens and leaving.

Potential fix to gen rushing:

I feel like hex:ruin should just be the way how generators work. It should permanently be like that. Yeah... i'm DEAD serious. If they make the game like that permanently then survivors won't be as oppressive at gen rushing. Yes it can be oppressive and too hard for new players, but trust me it's a solid idea.

If they do this change, then the survivors pressure goes down by a lot. If they do this then they're going to have to revert the borrowed time nerf. Every killer camps, whether it be patrolling, camping or face camping, every killer does it. And you shouldn't be put in harms way just to save your teammate from an inevitable loss. Hook camping is the only overpowered/unbalanced thing about killers. You could also argue tunelling with a mori is overpowered too.

As soon as they fix the gen rush then we can focus on other, albeit small, problems with the game. Such as 4 man SWF lobbies or boring pallet loops. But gen rushing IS the problem and the only times I feel in control as a killer playing rank 1 is when my ruin doesn't get cleansed because it's in a proper hidden spot.

So yeah that's the end of my little uhh dead by daylight balance bible chapter 1, hope a dev reads this and does something, 2 of my mates have already ditched dbd
