Marvel Heroes 2.0 - DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD

Okay, thanks for the heads up. Here's a copy of what it said:

I logged in as soon as the patch was downloaded and was excited to see what was new. There's an almost overwhelming amount of crap in my inventory and in the overflow. I can't find my costume core, and I gotta spend 20 minutes sorting this stuff. Once that was done I looked at the skills for my Rocket Racoon, who has been my main character forever. The skill breakdowns seem straightforward. Pick the 8 abilities you want, specialize with the right hand tree. Easy enough. Sucks that I only have 1 hotbar, I'll have to drop a few skills from my previous play-style. Oh well, it's a brave new world right? So once I got that sorted I checked out the Infinity System. I have almost 900 points to spend here, so I should have lots of options. Except I don't really, because my points have already been split up equally among the nodes. So I am forced to allocate points in the strength tree, durability tree, and speed tree. I'd really rather specialize this character with summoner, intelligence and energy stuff. But I am limited to the same 140-odd points in those as I have everywhere. So that's pretty dumb. Oh well, I guess there are a couple summoner skills in those other trees. And I guess I can improve my dodge by a small amount. I have to spend the points in each tree, so I may as well try and find the most useful areas to spend. But I would really rather have those points available elsewhere. Ok, I have a build now. Lets go check my ttk on the raid dummy and see how it compares to the 35-50 seconds I used to get. Some of the skills play a bit differently, so I am sure I will need to fine tune some things, but I expect I'll still come in around a minute or so. But after 3 minutes I am only halfway through the guys life bar. Jesus, this is taking forever. Okay, well I don't do a ton of raids anyway. I'll just ramp up this difficulty slider and head into midtown, that will be a test for how this guy plays in day to day life now. And I'm dead. Like 50 feet outside of the spawn room I run into a moderate sized group of mobs. By the time I set up my turrets I am hurting so I zip out of there and heal up. But every time I jump back into the fight I just get wrecked. Down to half health, zoom away, shit it's on cooldown. Dead. Wow. Mobs always hurt in large numbers, but that was an average group. I guess I will have to re-balance for more defense or something. But before I do lets see how my damage stacks up in here. I had already noticed that my overall damage numbers were way down, Things that once brutaled for 2 million are now just above 200,000 so that's a big drop. But the mobs seem to have lower health pools. So my ttk isn't terrible on them. If I have to re-balance for more defense my damage is going to go down even more, that sucks. Feels bad. Feels like a nerf. But I haven't fought any bosses yet, I will try that next. I don't want to get clobbered by mobs in midtown though, so I am going to just do a nice easy cosmic shocker terminal. I have to use my flight rather than my dash to get there, so it takes a little longer. And my flight is substantially slower than it was yesterday. Lame. But whatever, I get to the boss. 4 minutes later I kill him. Wow, that took way too long. I used to be able to do it in 4 or 5 seconds. I admit that was super easy, like stupidly easy. But this... this is just mind-numbingly dull. Turrrets, nukes, refill spirit, fire away, groot, turrets, nukes, refill spirit, fire away. Okay that's the same as it was, but 4 minutes of it is bad. Just bad. I am already bored. I have played my favorite character for like 40 minutes and I am bored to tears. Feels bad. Feels like my investment of time and money has not paid out on this one. I can't exactly ask for a refund, not with over 1500 hours played. But this game is not anything like the game I enjoyed for those 1500 hours. This is a slower version. A downgrade. That's just my first impression, and I apologize that it is so bleak. But the 5 people in my teamspeak server all felt about the same. They're playing Overwatch now, and I am going to go join them. I'll spend more time on Marvel Heroes later tonight. But I really don't see myself playing this anywhere near as much as I did before. Poor execution Gaz. Not impressed.
