Match Thread: Australia vs England at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, Day 3

After the last test, the English went to the pub to drown their sorrows over a few pints. A few drinks in, a group of Australian cricketers showed up. Joe Root's heart jumped into his throat. Cameron Bancroft was amongst them.

Joe looked down the bar. Johnny Bairstow wasn't there. Probably in the loo, Joe thought. He knew Johnny was feeling aggreived following Cameron's post-headbutt interview. He didn't want there to be a scene. They weren't thugs, after all.

Shyly, he approached the Australians.

"Look," Joe said, catching Cameron's eye. "Johnny's off draining his todger. He's real sorry about the headbutt."

"It was a bit weird," Cam replied with a wry smile.

"I know, I know. But there was no malice."

"No malice."

"So I'll buy you both drinks and we'll have a nice chat? No more drama?"

"I'll tell you what I'll do," said Cam. "The drinks are on me. I have a big head, after all. And I'll pop on some Aussie music on the jukebox. We can all have a yarn."

"That sounds... lovely."

Cameron pulled out a two dollar coin, gesturing towards the old jukebox in the corner. "So what will it be? Powderfinger? Farnham? Braithwaite? My treat."

"Shannon Noll, thanks."
