[Match Thread] BBC Election Deabte

No he clearly isn't racist.

I draw your attention to this part.

The way to combat it is to come together with the migrant in solidarity, unionise, befriend and incorporate.

As a Socialist, with an immigrant girlfriend, and of immigrant family myself, the idea is to recognise all workers around the world are equal, this is what the old song of "workers of the world unite" means.

But we currently live in nation states, capitalists will use free movement of labour to undermine workers in richer countries, if nothing else the immigrant is not part of society, and ripe for exploitation.

The Socialist answer is, as an ordinary guy, combat the disenfranchisement, make the immigrants part of the larger community, and traditionally the union.

In government, end free movement of labour, it is an idea first proposed by Adam Smith, in "the wealth of nations" largely to benefit business, it is entirely to suppress wages.

The idea of making the connection between resisting free movement, and racism is one that comes from the right, to discourage that resistance, while the right have always stoked division, and under this tory government immigration is at its highest ever.

The depths to which labour has sunk

How old are you, I guarantee you don't remember politics from before Blair's neo-liberal, pro corporate "New Labour"
