[Match thread] Leeds Vs Oxford (friendly)

My opinions (was at game):

  • Pennington was very tidy after getting over what almost looked like some initial nerves, had a header go a bit stray and made a few errant passes but showed some good football IQ.

The defence in general was up to the task today and they didn't particularly look in trouble at any point, though they did invite more pressure than I liked at points and there were a few times where people looked out of place.

I continue to be happy with Berardi's performances. He's a grafter and he's shown that with his time here, when he wasn't playing you didn't hear of complaints and now that he is he looks well up to the task as our LB.

  • Saiz was fantastic the duration he was on, very tidy player, creative, good on the ball. Didn't always do the obvious thing and distributed the ball well, including a few really well placed long balls. Was always looking for ways to get involved and liked to move the ball forward.

  • Green should be our #1 and it should be his job to lose. He deserves it from his performances the 2nd half of last season. Wiedwald had some shaky moments despite not much to do.

  • Sacko was dangerous with the ball at his feet and running at people as per usual but he REALLY needs to work on moving the ball into the box. His crossing is still pretty abysmal and his chance in the box was god awful.

  • Wood wasn't involved anywhere near as much as I'd hoped. I really hope TC plans around him since he's a good striker and target man. We need people putting good crosses in for him to get onto.

  • O'Kane was completely faultless, probably deserves to start in CM to be honest.

  • Phillips passing was pretty shit overall, though he did well defensively.

Overall i was happy with what I saw and I'm really happy with the options that we have midfield and up. We have some quality and good depth. If we get ourselves a CB I'll be happy.
