a dystopian future in which humanity is unknowingly trapped inside a simulated reality, the Matrix, created by intelligent machines to distract humans while using their bodies as an energy source.

For those who are familiar with Aldous Huxley's ideas about a scientific dictatorship, The Matrix is essentially the same idea... told in the language of science fiction.

• People living in a state of servitude

• Completely unaware

• Distracted by a false reality filled with false concerns and false pleasures.

• Most of them actually loving their servitude so much they prefer to defend it rather than be "woken up"

• Vast majority rendered incapable of rebellion against the same system which has enslaved them.

One interesting question relevant to The Matrix that you could ask yourself, or anyone else...

Which life would you prefer?

• Living cushy in a simulated paradise.

• Being free, but in material poverty (in Zion) or running for your life on the Belshazzar

Cypher was presented as a "bad guy", but his character asked some important questions and made some compelling arguments in favor of the Matrix.
