Matt was a great guy, please, if you need help ASK

Just gonna chime in here as someone who has seeked mental health advice in the past.

It all feels very fake. After a person is dead we write eulogies for them. People who you wouldn't give 2 shits about now become topics of discussion, admiration, and lamentation. Because now something bad happened. Now it's front and center and you can't really ignore it. But when it came time to make that person feel welcomed, we all sort of made it not my problem. And why would we? We all have our own issues and shit to do. Humanism is the buzz word we use to give our token appreciation for people who we don't have the energy or time to invest into.

And then you talk to therapists and their whole idea is reframing the world and how you view it. But the sad truth is that unless you have something to offer people, some identity of yours that they can latch onto, they have no reason to care and so they don't. Thousands have died. Thousands will continue to. The administration will pay lip service to say that they are doing what they can. The students will make posts on reddit about how they really care. And then we'll all go back to drink our kool aid until the next time it happens.
