Maturity and School Performance?

Dude, I'm the mom. Of a gifted kid (with numerous health issues, including but not limited to a heart condition that precludes participation even in PE). Holding a gifted kid back academically to wait for physical maturity is.... not a way to go. Not a way to develop intellectual strengths and not a way to develop independent ways of thinking.

I'm just saying, they are not as connected as you may think. Do you suppose that the majority of MIT admits are athletically-inclined, socially popular, etc.? Some, sure. Most??

(ok fine, I'm like 5'1" too LOL! But no one cares because I'm a mom and yeah, there was the time I was in front of a judge with four guy lawyers who were >6' lol. Anyway, if I had had to stay an extra year in high school for any reason whatsoever, OMG my head might have exploded. I had to get out of town. Back before cell phones, got on a plane, moved to a new city, learned to ride the subway, etc. - we learned by doing)
