May Boxycharm First Impressions

Hi everyone!

This is my first post on this sub. I’ve tried a few subscription boxes in the past but have never been that satisfied with the products. I subscribed to Boxycharm after seeing how many full-sized products they include in the box. Here are my first impressions of my first batch of products:

ModelCo. Bronzer ($22)- This bronzer is really nice! I am a bronzer junkie and wear bronzer every single day, so I will definitely get use out of this. The bronzer itself is incredibly smooth and easily blends into the skin. The texture is very smooth and silky with a satiny finish. The color is a golden bronze with a little bit of an orange undertone. It has tiny bits of gold glitter in addition to a golden sheen. But don’t worry, the glitter is not overpowering. I have only worn matte bronzers up until now, so this is my first time trying out a non-matte formula. I think it will be beautiful for summer time because it gives a pretty, luminous finish.

Bodyography brow brush ($19)- This brow brush is a pretty close dupe to the Anastasia brow brush, which I own and love. This brush is slightly thicker than the Anastasia one, but still does the job. If you had to choose between the two, I’d choose the Anastasia one since they are the same price, but if you get this one in your Boxy then there’s really no need to buy another one.

Bodyography brow powder trio ($19)- These powders are excellent. I’ve never used a brow powder on my brows (only brow pomade and regular eyeshadow) and I’m very pleased with the results. The trio includes a dark brown, a medium brown, and a taupe. I have medium brown eyebrows and the two brown colors both worked great for me. I’m not sure if these shades would work for someone with lighter eyebrows, but you might be able to wear the taupe shade? They applied easily with the Bodyography brow brush and I will continue to use them on my brows. The powder comes off on my finger when I wipe my brow, so I might have to get some clear mascara and see if that helps the powder stay on.

Lip Bar lipstick in purple rain ($20)- I love this lipstick formula! I love purple toned lipsticks, although I’m not sure how wearable this one would be since it’s so bright. I can see this being a great color for Fall, so I might just save it in my stash until then. The formula applies smoothly and easily, and feels creamy and hydrating on the lips. No weird smells or tastes or anything. The color is highly pigmented with a couple layers. The finish is satin- not too shiny, but not matter either. Can’t say much for the staying power since I only put it on an hour ago.

Lauren B. nail polish ($18)- I was actually really impressed with this nail polish. The color is a beautiful soft pinky-red. I applied one coat to my nails and it completely dried in a little under a minute, which is awesome. The color was smooth, not streaky at all. One coat was pretty pigmented but I think I would apply two coats to get the full color.

Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with these products. The quality of all the products is great, especially the lipstick, nail polish, and bronzer. I saw that a few of the past boxes got full eyeshadow palettes and I was hoping I’d be lucky enough to get one, so I was a little disappointed when I didn’t. However, the box came with 5 full size products which is really impressive, especially because all 5 products cost almost as much on their own as the box itself. I hate having to buy makeup brushes, so I love when they come in subscription boxes, but I’m little disappointed that I already have a brush exactly like this one (still a great brush though!) All in all, I’d say this box is definitely worth the money and worth trying for anyone. I mean, you can’t beat 5 full-size products for $21, can you?

P.S. I saw that another person already posted swatches of everything, so that’s why I left them out!
