We may send armoured vehicles to Ukraine, says Boris Johnson

Nice, but...

I'd contest that this war is demonstrating that armoured vehicles don't have a strong place on the battlefield.

I know Russia is showing us exactly how not to do it, but I can't help feel they must have had some basic idead about what they're doing, but the landscape and situation has really ballsed it up for them (thankfully).

Consideration...

  • Russia has (some) air superiority still, and probably could get it's shit together with some decent targets

  • All the issues of logisitcs would apply to UK sourced vehicles and parts - and remember no NATO staff to maintain them, some MBTs are high maintenance.

  • Looking at the shots we do see of Ukraine, I wonder if the flat/muddy landscape is torture for vehicles at risk of light missile fire.

To be clear, awesome, and I am 100% emotionally engaged in Ukraine hurting Russia just as much as it can. But looking for reasonable discussion!
