Maybe not the best place to post, but you guys liked my Dylan art before - here's Woody.

Maaaan.

I gotta tell ya, Mr. Creeper, between this and the couple other things you've offered up recently—you got some real talent, pal. I mean I don't know nothing about nothing and even I can see that. I hope you're able to recognize it, too, and that you continue to plug away.

Obviously I enforce neither the rules nor the regulations around here, but I think a lot of people would support me in saying that a wider berth should be granted to submissions of this sort. That is to say, I hope going forward that you feel free to post similar creations—no matter how tangentially-related they might be to Dylan.

Matter of fact, this is a point I'd like to extend a little further. Aside from facilitating interesting discussions and sharing interesting/amusing material of Bob's, one of the best things a community like ours can do is to provide a space for ability of this kind to shine through. To the extent that all of us can do more to encourage this reality, I think we should. Even if this means, as is the case here, permitting contributions that are connected to Dylan, rather than about Dylan specifically.

I very much doubt Bob would object; if there's one thing he's emphasized over the years, it's that his songs didn't just fall from the sky...he is part of a tradition—"extending the line," as it were. I think we should be open to exploring that tradition. For many reasons, really; not the least of which being that its continued survival, it seems to me, is very much in question. Dylan presents one of the few avenues left through which people can gain access to loads of great, forgotten artists. If people can't discuss them here, where will they go? (/r/Woody Guthrie exists but barely; for Dylan's more obscure influences, the situation is even worse.)

Anyway, I make this point because when I see submissions like this prefaced with trepidation ("maybe this isn't the best place to post" being a not-all-that-unusual sentiment), it makes me think about what we could be missing out by not inviting in a broader range of subject material. Then, of course, there's the larger issue, which is that it's hard to look at an image like this without wondering how different this world might be if we were all little more encouraging of one another's gifts.

And so it is with that final point in mind that I'd like to ask of you a favour, Mr. Creeper... no matter how tired you get of yourself, or all of your creations, won't you come see us aaaa-gain?
