[McFadden] Taylor Heinicke says his mindset is to come in and to be the best backup he can be for Desmond Ridder with the Falcons. He says Atlanta was up front with him about his role with the club.

It's a pretty QB friendly system for a guy who still has 4.5 speed, to give him a good running game and tall athletic targets, he doesn't have to be the best passer, just be decently accurate and good at running this scheme that will do him lots of favors. Maybe Heinecke can succeed for these reasons too.

But what I think it boils down to is that we aren't in a position to get a QB at our pick, so every other option means committing more assets, while the defense in particular hadn't even been started to be rebuilt.

They did the right thing by taking that money and building up the O-line and defense, now just get us a pass rusher and we're looking pretty competitive.
