Me (22F) with my SO (27M) he has found some new kind of philosophy/religion that is making me lose respect for his intellect

Hi, I used to believe in that Spirit Science stuff last year. I watched every single video on the channel, and maybe I can let you know what was going through my head at the time if I can remember.

A lot of the stuff seemed very far-fetched, but I actually believed in some of it somehow. For some stuff I would just ignore and only take in the information that sounded good to me. I thought maybe this kind of stuff was the answer to solving the worlds problems etc... It did actually seem like some kind of cult to me, but never gave that idea much thought.

Anyway, what changed it all for me was simply a change of mindset. I suddenly found it more entertaining to challenge my beliefs and listen to both sides of things before investing any kind of belief into it. I like to hear what scientists / experts / skeptics have to say about something first now, and usually things will stop there.

For example, I was friends with a bunch of conspiracy theorists on Facebook and I never questioned anything for a long time. Then, upon this new mindset I decided to entertain the other side of things, like for example, watching a 50 minute debate between 2 conspiracy theorists and 2 authors from popular science. I found a new appreciation for debunking videos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dVOrJ-c7_s This guy debunks Spirit Science, but your boyfriend might not like that. I remember when I was watching Spirit Science this guy seemed evil of some sorts. But now with this new way of thinking I don't see that at all, and just find him entertaining to watch. My best bet is that this is just a phase for your boyfriend, and all this Spirit Science stuff in my opinion is enlightening people inside, but it's a false sense of enlightenment.

The stuff is so far fetched, it's just fascinating to some, and most likely all your boyfriend is trying to do is share something special with you!!

Best of luck.
