me choosing a new game to get

two of the major defining traits of aspergers syndrome are "activities that are restricted and repetitive and are sometimes abnormally intense or focused" and " collecting volumes of detailed information on a relatively narrow topic". this game is a perfect game for many with high-functioning autism (not for everyone; everyone's different), and many factorio youtubers and enthusiasts are well known to be on the spectrum.

it literally offers a restrictive and repetitive framework of game mechanics with super deep and detailed possibilities of permutations to delve head-first into.. from various configurations of belt-balancers, shufflers, splitters, prioritizers, counters, etc... to ridiculously elaborate mall, main bus, and railway designs.

to ultimately succeed in the game and reach endgame in a timely and organized fashion one must collect "volumes of detailed information on a relatively narrow topic", and that's a hallmark of the condition. factorio doesn't offer 'little new content'. first, the dev has been constantly deving the game well for years (adding all sorts of new stuff). 2nd, there's shitloads of mods out there.. but even in the base game......

have you seen the things people have made withing the framework of the game mechanics??? they build fully functional computers with every component of a real processor and logic circuits not only out of the game's built-in logic units but also with physical conveyor belts themselves. it's fucking NUTS and really, really complicated. there's unlimited possibilities, anywhere from printing text with belts to creating digital displays that render 3d objects. they've even made raycasting engines that can display interactive 3d environments. it's fucking nuts!!... and it's not something that would generally appeal to your average neurotypical person. it appeals to many with aspergers... more than any other game i can think of, and i've played a lot of games and known a lot of ppl with aspergers (and every one of them plays it).

you may be different (everyone is), but people with aspergers are known for the exact opposite of trying completely new experiences all the time because they get bored. that's the opposite of one of the principle defining characteristics of the conditon. they go very, very, very in-depth into narrow subjects (like factorio). hence my comment.
