Me irl

I'm an American, and I finally had to break down and go to a doctor recently, and now I have a $1000 bill from the hospital for just referring me to a different doctor because the doctor there said he didn't know what it was (I didn't go to a different doctor because none of the clinics were accepting new/uninsured patients) and another $600 bill from the doctor I was referred to for four visits to her office (and finally quit going because the cost per visit when she wanted to schedule visits three times per week was too damn much, and the 600 isn't counting the 250 I had to pay up front). I'm also waiting for the hospital's doctor's bill which they usually send separately a few weeks later, and several years ago when I was basically forced to go that bill itself was a few hundred dollars too. I won't be surprised if I wind up owing $2000 on top of the $250 I've already paid (which I had to borrow, so I technically owe that too, though that person is far more lenient about the repayment time) to the second doctor and the almost $100 I paid for medication.

Great system. Totally recommended.
