Me and my friends set up our telescopes once every month in Fort Greene and offer free views of the Moon and Jupiter

Reminded me of driving through north east Arizona several years ago. Late at night I noticed the unobscured night sky was so bright it was reflecting on the window inside the car. We pulled off the road and looked at the night sky with all the lights off and just the strong desert wind whipping around while our eyes adjusted. The moon was nowhere to be see and the whole sky was filled with stars along with the Milky Way overhead I hadn't appreciated in such splendor since I was teenager. I used to sneak off before midnight in the dead of winter and lie on my back in the fresh snow on dark nights like that looking up at individual stars and thinking about the vastness of what I was looking at. It's no wonder the influence the night sky had on our ancestor's imaginations.
