At least with a machine, she won't leave me to look like a fool for believing in a stupid notion like love while she finds a better human to bond with. If I'm going to con myself I'm going to get myself a partner who is equally if not more committed to the sad lie than myself.

Other than that, suicide failures are actually pretty high across the board compared to what people know. The lizard brain will make you flinch, tiptoe on the stool, or throw up all those meds.

Living with a failed suicide attempt is painful, especially when people find out and ask why.
