I mean good for them, but I’ve seen a few of these stories floating around and I keep wondering if they’re inspiration porn more than anything

Starting a business isn't a big deal. People do it all the time. Not having it fail is a different story, but even then it's still not newsworthy. The real news should be that disabled people are still being discriminated.

They put a positive spin on an awful situation which just gives them an excuse to perpetuate it and allows them to feel good about pretending that everything's okay when it's not. It really is inspiration porn because they're exploiting a disabled individuals misfortune to create this artificial feel good story. Look at all the likes and hearts, should be angry and sad emojis instead. Most disabled people by the way don't have the resources to start their own coffee shop, and with many of these stories it's usually the parents that started the business and hired their disabled child. So it's not even representative.
