Mechanics of Reddit, what’s the dumbest thing you’ve seen someone do to their vehicle?

I didn't say it's instinctual. It's something that you have to teach, but it's trivial. I've pumped my own gas for the last 20 years, and my parents gas before that. Never seen a fire at a gas station, never seen a gas station that was once on for, and I love in a very high population area, Bay Area CA. We have all kinds of morons pumping their own gas, without setting themselves on fire.

Oregonians have an understandable fear, they haven't done it, so they don't understand it. Practically speaking, their fears are unfounded. Driving is extremely hazardous, yet we still do it daily, and allow the barely competent to do it. Pumping gas is less complicated, and less risky.
