Med school prestige

Being at a T20 school helps a little bit, but not in ways that can't be overcome by putting in a little more work at a non-T20 school. By that, I mean you can be an average student at a T20 school and have a shot at competitive specialties. At less prestigious schools, you'll probably need to be a little bit better of a student. But tbh, how much it matters is really exaggerated because if you look at the medical schools of residents in some of the most competitive residency programs, several prestigious schools have residents from all types of US medical schools. And none of this matters at all if you're going into a less competitive specialty or primary care, which will account for over half of all physicians.
