Medical Interventions pros/cons

First of all, do whatever is right for you. I'm a physician and I felt like trying all natural before I did my Obgyn rotations during training years that all physicians are required to do and after seeing what I saw changed my mind as did all of my classmates honestly. I was in on both types of births and the unmedicated ones were painful to watch the suffering. Majority of the time the women switched to epidural and a few times I felt bad because it was too late to administer one. Many women were suffering so much that the baby started to undergo too much stress and the labor was stalled until medication was given so that the mother was able to relax enough to have the baby progress or needed to go to C section. I gave birth recently and still talked with many ob specialists about my concerns pros and cons again and every single one recommended the epidural based on evidence based medicine and all of them had gotten one but did not pressure me to get one. I went into labor and started out fine but after my water broke it became unbearable and I personally couldn't tolerate it and begged for medication. Thank god we have that option now. Afterwards it was such a pleasant experience and when the time came to push I could still feel mild discomfort and pressure and the nurses just help emphasize what you are feeling and when to push. My baby came out screaming healthy and not sedated at all. Best decision and don't feel ashamed to do whatever is right for you and it's also your right to change your mind.
