I have conducted many interview and it always makes me nervous when candidate comes back lower salary range. Especially when he or she replies with "according to me research" and for an analyst position. One,, if I think your salary research is not accurate, can I trust you being an "analyst" for me? Two, why is he or she requesting lower than expected salary? Did he or she lowered the range because other companies keep on passing an offer? etc. Of course, salary range depend on where you are so I can't say $50K is high or low.

I do, however, would advise you to answer differently when someone ask you about salary range next time. Something along the line of My salary requirement is negotiable. Do you have a range in mind (We always do have a range)?
