[MEGATHREAD] All 50 Shades of Grey questions are to be directed to this megathread!!

I found this response interesting. Credit to /u/emergencychocolate on SRD.

No, being entertained by that garbage is a horrid trait in a woman.

I want to see this guy's porn browser. I'm assuming he jerks off to Ulysses and Citizen Kane and the collected works of Shakespeare. So weary of this particular jerk about this mommy porn. Sure it's shit, but it's an aspirational fantasy that has clearly resonated with a lot of people. Lots of people want context and story with their erotica. Just because this is a crappy story based on a crappy fanfic of a crappy franchise doesn't make it any worse than the last 3 minutes these dudely bros jerked off to on the front page of PornHub. And holy shit - the moralizing about how it's not "the right kind of BDSM" or how it "misrepresents the kink community". How many women who enjoyed this stuff are even in the "kink community"? It's fantasy - it's pretend. Why is it ok for reddit to have at least 15 or 20 nonconsent-based subreddits that cater to rape fantasies - I mean, really aggro stuff that revolves around hard fantasy nonconsent, humiliation, "breaking", "dead eyes", choking, spitting, rape, and degradation - but this one single trilogy of crappily written softcore - written by and marketed to women - has so many people hyperventilating about how it "misrepresents kink"? It was never meant to be a textbook. It's porn. Try telling any dude on reddit that his porn of choice isn't politically correct enough. Have fun with that. But reddit and half the internet is all up in the business of the millions of people who bought and probably jerked off to 50 Shades. It's all Opinions and Judgements. I don't get it.

There was obviously a niche market among women for sanitized "hard Harlequin" out there, and the market moved to fill that vacuum. You'd think the libertarians on reddit would be bowing down to EL James and her team of marketers. It's fantasy, after all, and it's clearly nothing that anyone with sense is going to expect to have happen to them. Do men watch porn about banging the nanny and expect that their babysitter is going to jump their bones? I hope not.

It almost makes me think that some of them - like the OP of this stupid maymay - might feel inferior to a fantasy portrait of an abtastic, handsome young billionaire. Wonder how his wife would feel about his porn star of choice?
